DUSTIN HANSEN TAKES THE WIN AWAY IN VERNAL!

VERNAL, UTAH (August 22, 2009) Dustin Hansen of Myton, Utah is still searching for his first career IMCA Southern Sport Mod feature win in 2009. This weekend he did it by winning the feature. Hansen started on the pole for his heat race and he, Hubert Wilson, and Gauge Smith battled hard for the heat race win. Hansen passed Wilson on the bottom to take the checkered flag in the heat race. Dustin would start on the pole again for the feature. Dustin Hansen used the extremely fast bottom groove to pull away on the start. Hansen never looked back as he led all the laps to earn his first career IMCA Southern Sport Mod feature win. It took Dustin Hansen only 33 races to get his first win. Hansen now will take a weekend off of racing then head to the final race at the Fairgounds Speedway in Cortez, Colorado on Labor Day weekend.

DUSTIN HANSEN COMES FROM THE BACK TO THE FRONT!

CORTEZ, COLORADO (August 14 & 15, 2009) Dustin Hansen of Myton, Utah went to Cortez, Colorado motor less. Hansen spent all Friday morning in a parking lot putting his new motor in. Don Baisch, Carl Potter, Ken Hansen, and Will Hensley helped him put the motor in. Hansen did not have to redraw like the mods had too. So it put Hansen in fourth in the heat race. Hansen battled hard for the third spot until his motor started to cut out again. He pulled into the pits and he found a rocker loose. Hansen had to start in the twelfth spot in the feature. Hansen made it up to fourth by the end of the night. The third place car was later disqualified so it moved Hansen up to third spot in the feature. The next day Hansen went through his car to find no problem until the tech guys came over and told him to put mufflers in because of his headers were to big. So, he scrambled to find mufflers to put in. He found them and then put them in. Hansen would finish the heat race. Hansen then was late for line up so he had to start in twelfth again. Hansen rim rode around the top almost having his right rear off the track all the way around the track. Hansen came in the pits with a top five finish. Hansen now plans to make the trip to the Diamond Mountain Speedway in Vernal, Utah.

DUSTIN HANSEN PULLS OFF IN VERNAL!

VERNAL, UTAH (August 8, 2009) Myton, Utah native, Dustin Hansen trekked to the Diamond Mountain Speedway in Vernal, Utah to earn some more points for his IMCA Southern Sport Mod National Rookie status. He was third in the Nation going into the event. Hansen had to change motors this last week to even run in Vernal. The motor was stock and the track was heavy with a lot of traction. Due to the rough surface, Hansen pulled off the track in the heat race. Hansen would pull off the track in the feature also as he did not have enough power on the tacky track so, he saved his car and the motor by taking the fifth place finish and pulling off the track. Hansen will return to action at the Fairgrounds Speedway in Cortez, Colorado.

It looked good in hot laps but in the heat race that motor went south while rolling in the wet surface of the race track. Hansen will now make the trip to the Diamond Mountain Speedway in Vernal, Utah with a different motor. Hansen sits fourth in the IMCA National Rookie Of The Year standings.

HANSEN SOLID AT AZTEC SPEEDWAY!

AZTEC, NEW MEXICO (April 24 & 25, 2009) Dustin Hansen came into the weekend with a good mind set as the Southern Sport Mod driver from Myton, Utah, decided to hit the Aztec Speedway for the first time in his racing career. Hansen was lined up in the rear of his heat race because of the IMCA points system, Hansen had put the hammer down in the heat race and Hansen worked his way to the fourth position after starting in sixth. Hansen then had to gear up for the main event. Hansen would start in the twelfth spot and was battling for the seventh position until a car spun in front of him and dented to whole right side of the 20d machine. Hansen would wined up in the ninth position by the end of the night. Saturday was a lot better as the Hansen machine started third in the second heat race of the night at Aztec. Hansen got a good start on the green flag but would later struggle the handling of the car as the heat race went on and would finish in fourth. Hansen then had to make some changes as he went and asked team member Mickey Stubbings for his advice, Hansen then had a totally different race car than he started with. Hansen was seen starting in the sixth starting spot in the feature. Hansen worked his way to third until he had slipped up allowing a couple of cars get by. Hansen then fell back to sixth then he slowly moved his way to the fourth spot which is where he finished. Hansen thanks all of his crew and family for their help this weekend and looks forward to hitting the Fairgrounds Speedway in Cortez, Colorado on May 1 and 2.

HANSEN'S LUCK GOES FROM BAD TO GOOD IN CANYON!

PEORIA, ARIZONA (January 21 & 22, 2009) Dustin Hansen of Myton, Utah headed down to the Canyon Speedway Park in Peoria, Arizona this past weekend. How did he do? Well as the Hansen team pulled into the pits for the practice session at Canyon Speedway Park, they knew it was going to be a good weekend weather wise. As for racing, it was a different story as the cars were unloaded we had found that Dustin’s car had been leaking oil from the valve covers. He needed a new gasket. A new gasket was found but as the crew put the valve cover back on it had cracked. Now he needed a new valve cover. Hansen had missed half of the practice session on Friday night. So, Chase had let him borrow a valve cover from his car so Dustin could get some laps in. Dustin had made a few laps and then pulled in. The second session he had got the hang of it pretty good. Thanks to teammate Mickey Stubbings he had a spare valve cover. So, on Saturday while the cars were being serviced he had noticed that his right rear lug nuts had not been tightened so that ruined the right rear wheel. After the crew had put a new right rear on he had a bad pill draw which lined him up in the fifth spot out of seven cars. Hansen took the green but had spun in turns four and two which the track had slicked off coming out of the turns and was heavy going in the turns so it was hard to adjust. For the main event this lined him up in the fourteenth position. Hansen just rode around on the really dry slick surface and ended up in the thirteenth position. On Sunday, Dustin Hansen and crew got his car ready for the show for the afternoon. Hansen ended up on the outside pole for the heat race. Hansen then lead all eight laps and went on to win his first IMCA Southern Sport Mod heat race of his career and it came in the state of Arizona. So this put Hansen starting in the sixth position in the main event. At the drop of the green flag two cars spun in turn number one so they restarted. Hansen then immediately jumped into the fourth position and stayed in fourth for about ten laps until the second place car ran off the race track. This put Hansen in the third position. Hansen then went on to finish in the third position in the main event out of a thirteen car field. Hansen thanks his pit crew Tyler, Brenton, Carl Potter, & Family for all of his help this weekend. Hansen’s next stop will be at the Aztec Speedway in Aztec, New Mexico in April.
