STUBBINGS GETS CAREER BEST IN VERNAL!

VERNAL, UTAH (August 22, 2009) Mickey Stubbings of Helper, Utah earned his best career IMCA Modified feature finish at the Diamond Mountain Speedway in Vernal, Utah this weekend. Stubbings entered the weekend with a attitude that he was going to win. Stubbings started the night off with a heat race win in heat number one of the night from the pole position. Stubbings later would start on the pole in the feature. Stubbings flew away as the green flag came out. By the first two laps, Stubbings had a straightaway lead over teammate Chase Hansen until lap traffic came quick. By halfway, Stubbings was held up by a lapped car and that aloud Hansen to get around. Stubbings then started to hit his mark by running the extremely fast bottom line. Stubbings was unstoppable on the straightaway's. With about three laps left, Stubbings got around the leader. Stubbings had the race until the last lap when he got loose coming out of turn number four and lost the lead. Stubbings came home with a best, a second place run and probably the fastest car on the track. Stubbings will take a weekend off of racing, then will go to the Fairgounds Speedway in Cortez, Colorado on Labor Day weekend. Watch out racers, Stubbings has it figured out.

STUBBINGS HAS UP AND DOWN WEEKEND IN CORTEZ!

CORTEZ, COLORADO (August 14 & 15, 2009) Mickey Stubbings of Helper, Utah made the trip to the Fairgrounds Speedway in Cortez, Colorado this weeked for the EQ IMCA Wild West Modified Tour Northern Series show. After spending time mourning the loss of Charlotte Stubbings' brother they decided to make the trek to Cortez. Stubbings would later be seen starting in the third heat race with teammate Chase Hansen and Colorado shoe, Aaron Spangler. Stubbings would advance two spots to finish in fifth in the heat race. Stubbing then had to run the B-Main. Stubbings started in fifth position. The first lap their was carnage on the back stretch. Stubbings was involved in that wreck and that ended his night with right side damage to his car. Stubbings spent his Saturday morning working hard to put his car back together for the Saturday show. Stubbings drew well as he started in the foruth spot in heat five with Justen Yeager to his side. Stubbings wound up in third but he was reeling in Charlie Felker near the end of the heat. Stubbings then had to run another B-Main. He lined up in the second spot and he battled hard with Robert Gallegos for the second spot but he would come into the pits with a third place finish and a transfer spot in the feature. Stubbings then had to start in the twentieth spot, He then would end the night in twenty first spot. Stubbings plans to run in Vernal, Utah at the Diamond Mountain Speedway next.

STUBBINGS HEADS TO VERNAL, UTAH!

VERNAL, UTAH (August 8, 2009) Mickey Stubbings of Helper, Utah made the trip over to the Diamond Mountain Speedway in Vernal, Utah for the second time this season. Stubbings seen the track was rough so he started the heat race, ran a few laps, and pulled off. Stubbings decided to start the main, the track was still rough so, Stubbings surrendered his fourteenth spot and would pull off the track and head into the pits. No damage done to the 96m machine so he will be seen in action at the Fairgrounds Speedway in Cortez, Colorado for the EQ IMCA Wild West Modified Tour Northern Series show.

STUBBINGS HAS HARD LUCK IN PRICE!

PRICE, UTAH (July 31 & August 1, 2009) Mickey Stubbings was seen in action this weekend at the Desert Thunder Raceway in Price, Utah this weekend as he would finish third in his heat race and transfer to the top twelve starting spots in the feature. Stubbings started in the fifth spot in the main and would get caught in the wreck on the first lap. Stubbings was seen on his side off the back stretch. The safety crew was able to tip him back on his wheels so he can continue. Stubbings continued until later pulling into the pit area finishing in the seventeenth spot. The next day, Stubbings ran third once again in his heat race and would make the invert again. The main was next, Stubbings ran hard until he hit a loose tire that was on the track and it stuck to the bottom of his car. Stubbings later would finish in eleventh. Stubbings will make the trip to Vernal, Utah next.

STUBBINGS GETS FIRST TOP 10 IN CORTEZ!

CORTEZ, COLORADO (July 24 & 25, 2009) Helper, Utah’s own Mickey Stubbings made the trip to the Fairgrounds Speedway in Cortez, Colorado to try a few different things on his car. Stubbings would be starting in the fourth spot and would finish in the sixth spot in heat race number one. Mickey later made some changes for the main which he was seen starting in the sixteenth position. Stubbings would make his move and finish in thirteenth spot in the feature. Stubbings made a few changes for the next day as he hot lapped a few times during the afternoon. The car was good as Mickey would start in the third spot in his heat race and would finish in fourth in a competitive heat. Stubbings later would start in sixteenth spot in the main and then would move forward to finish in ninth position. That was Mickey’s first top ten in his IMCA Modified career at the Fairgrounds Speedway in Cortez, Colorado. Stubbings plans to run in Price, Utah next.

STUBBINGS RUNS WELL IN ROCK SPRINGS!

ROCK SPRINGS, WYOMING (July 17 & 18, 2009) Mickey Stubbings of Helper, Utah made the trip to the Sweetwater Speedway in Rock Springs, Wyoming for the rounds of the EQ IMCA Wild West Modified Tour Northern Series. Stubbings would draw decent as he would start sixth in his heat race and managed to finish in the fourth spot. Stubbings made some changes to his car for the B-Main. The changes did not help Mickey get off the corners and would miss the transfer by a few spots. Stubbings then would make changes that he has never done before. Stubbings started on the pole and would dominate the heat race from green to checkered. Stubbings then drew the tenth spot in the feature. Stubbings would fight hard but he ended the night in fifteenth position. Stubbings will be seen at the Fairgrounds Speedway in Cortez, Colorado.

STUBBINGS HAS HARD LUCK IN CORTEZ!

CORTEZ, COLORADO (July 10 & 11, 2009) Mickey Stubbings of Helper, Utah made the trip to the Fairgrounds Speedway in Cortez, Colorado for their regular points show. Stubbings lined up in the third spot in his heat race for the night. Stubbings drove hard to the lead until his car had a bad push and would fall back to sixth position. Mickey then had to start in the twenty second spot in the main event. Stubbings ran hard and would finish in the fifteenth position in the main. The next day, Stubbings made a few changes to his car for the afternoon practice and he seemed to like the changes. Stubbings started in the third spot and would come home with a fourth place showing. That finish made Stubbings start in the fourteenth spot. The green flag flew and Stubbings had cut a tire and then had to go into the hot pit and change the tire. Stubbings came out and rallied back to the eighteenth spot. Thanks to those that changed the tire in the hot pit. Stubbings plans to go to Rock Springs, Wyoming next.

STUBBINGS GETS TOP 10'S IN PRICE!

PRICE, UTAH (July 3 & 4, 2009) Helper, Utah’s own, Mickey Stubbings made the trip to the Desert Thunder Raceway in Price, Utah for the regular points show. Stubbings ran well in his heat as he made the invert and started in seventh for the feature. Stubbings would race hard with the top 10 and was seen finishing in eighth position. The next day Stubbings again qualified out of the heat race and finished third in the heat race. Stubbings would be seen starting in the eighth spot and then hang tight and finish in seventh spot. Stubbings now plans to hit the races in Cortez, Colorado on July 10 & 11

STUBBINGS RUNS WELL IN NEVADA!

BATTLE MOUNTAIN, NEVADA (June 26 & 27, 2009) Helper, Utah’s own, Mickey Stubbings made the trip to the Battle Mountain Raceway in Battle Mountain, Nevada to test his skills against with some of the best in the west and Nevada with the EQ IMCA Wild West Modified Tour Northern Series. Stubbings had a lot of confidence going into the race because he ran really well there last season with the tour. Mickey drew well for his heat race as he would start on the outside pole in heat four. Stubbings was running well until he and another car got tangled together which tore a lot of things up on his car. Stubbings barely made it out for the B-Main due to putting it back together. Mickey missed the transfer by two spots. Stubbings the next day worked hard on his car trying to fix things and put the measurements back to where they were. Stubbings then had to make a few safety laps before the races. Stubbings drew well again as he started near the front for his heat race. Mickey made the invert and then drew a number two for his starting spot in the main event. Mickey then wou ld fall back due to his brakes and would finish in the fifteenth spot. Stubbings will be seen at his home track in Price, Utah at the Desert Thunder Raceway next week.

STUBBINGS HITS JUNE CORTEZ SHOW!

CORTEZ, COLORADO (June 19 & 20, 2009) Helper, Utah driver Mickey Stubbings made the trip to Cortez, Colorado to the Fairgrounds Speedway. Mickey Stubbings started in the third position in heat race number three and would finish in the fourth spot in his heat. Mickey would be seen starting on the pole for the main event. Mickey missed the setup and would fall back to finish in twelfth position. Mickey then made some changes to his car for the practice session on Saturday afternoon. Mickey then tried different setups during the session then would park it. Stubbings then lined up in the fourth spot and would take the early lead until he was shuffled back to the fourth position. Mickey then would start on the outside pole in the main event. Stubbings then was shuffled back to the thirteenth spot by the end of the night. Stubbings now heads to Battle Mountain Raceway in Battle Mountain, Nevada where he got his career best WWMT Northern Series finish in 2008.

PRICE, UTAH (June 12 & 13, 2009) Mickey Stubbings made the trip to the Desert Thunder Raceway in Price, Utah. Stubbings started in sixth position in heat number two but moved clear up to third position. Stubbings then started on the pole in the B-Main then he finished in second. Stubbings then started seventeenth in the main. Stubbings finished in tenth in the main. The next day seen Mickey starting in fifth and finishing in sixth in heat race number two. That put Mickey to the B-Main which started him in seventh and he made the transfer by finishing in fourth. Stubbings started twenty third in the main and moved up to finish in fifteenth. Stubbings now will make the trip to Cortez, Colorado for his next race.

STUBBINGS HEADS TO CORTEZ!

CORTEZ, COLORADO (May 29 & 30, 2009) Mickey Stubbings of Helper, Utah went to the Fairgounds Speedway in Cortez, Colorado to try out a few new things to his car. After being run over for the last two races, it was time for a change. Mickey was seen lined up in the third spot in heat race number one. Stubbings looked fast and was hard to beat until his car set up went away and then finished in fifth position. It was main event time as Mickey lined up clear back in the thirteenth spot. Mickey would ride out and finish in fourteenth. The next day Mickey made a few changes to his car to try to make it better in the dry slick conditions. Stubbings started in the fourth spot and would finish in fifth once again in his heat race. Then it was luck thirteenth again as Mickey would be seen starting. Mickey then would come off the track in seventeenth spot. Stubbings plans to hit the EQ IMCA Wild West Modified Tour Northern Series races at Desert Thunder Raceway in Price, Utah.

STUBBINGS HITS RYAN BARD MEMORIAL!

AZTEC, NEW MEXICO (May 23 & 24, 2009) Mickey Stubbings of Helper, Utah took his IMCA Modified to the Ryan Bard Memorial at the Aztec Speedway in Aztec, New Mexico to support the life of Ryan Bard. Stubbings drew well which put him on the inside second row of heat race number two. The track was heavy and fast, Mickey would save his car for the weekend as he finished in the sixth spot. It was rainy all day as the cars were getting ready for the B-Main, it started raining which would rain out Saturday’s show. It was postponed for Sunday night. The next day seen Stubbings get his car ready for the B-Main for Saturday’s show. Stubbing had to finish in the top twelve to qualify for the main event. Stubbings started in the top twelve and then battled with teammate Chase Hansen and a few other cars for the transfer. Mickey ran a solid race and then found himself in the main event by finishing in tenth. In the main Mickey was making progress until a car spun in front of him again and ending his chance in that main. So, the crew hurried and fixed the car up for the next show. The next show seen Mickey Stubbings starting on the pole for his heat race. Stubbings stayed up front in the heat race and ended up winning the heat. Stubbings then drew a pill that put him in the eleventh starting spot in the main event. Mickey would end up finishing in the twenty first spot. Stubbings will now head to Cortez, Colorado so look out.

STUBBINGS MAKES TRIP TO VERNAL!

VERNAL, UTAH (May 15 & 16, 2009) Mickey Stubbings of Helper, Utah made the trip over the mountain to the EQ IMCA Wild West Modified Tour Northern Series show at the Diamond Mountain Speedway in Vernal, Utah. Mickey drew the fifth starting spot in heat race number four. Stubbings would be patient and find his way to third. Stubbings now would be seen on the outside pole in B-Feature number one and was about to hit the track until the power went out which shut down the track. Mickey would then have to run first thing in the morning on Saturday. Stubbings would later have a battle with Dusty Safley in that B-Feature and then would finish in the fourth spot. Thats a transfer. Mickey started shotgun on the field. Stubbings was heading through the field until a car came across the right front of Stubbings car. That hit was so hard, Mick could see stars and it nearly knocked him out. Mickey was done for the weekend after they looked at the damaged right front of Mickey's car.

STUBBINGS RUNS WELL IN PRICE OPENER!

PRICE, UTAH (May 8 & 9, 2009) Mickey Stubbings made his first trip to the Desert Thunder Raceway in Price, Utah of 2009. After drawing a number eight, Mickey would be seen on the pole for heat race number one and would battle hard with Dusty Safley for the heat race win and would come in second place in his heat race. Mickey then had made the invert. Mickey had drawn the sixth best so he lined up in sixth for the main event. Mickey would bite his time and would battle hard with former IMCA Mountain Region champion, Robert Gallegos for the fourth spot and would have a great run finishing in fifth. His first top five of the 2009 season. After a top five showing the first night, Mickey was determined to finish strong once again the next day. Stubbings would be seen starting near the middle of the heat race. Stubbings jumped to the front as he led a few laps in the heat race but would finish in the fourth spot. Stubbings would later be seen starting in the seventh spot in the feature. Mickey would be patient at the beginning of the race because of the wet track and would come back strong finishing in sixth. Stubbings will be seen at the Diamond Mountain Speedway in Vernal, Utah for the second round of the EQ IMCA Wild West Modified Tour “Nothern Series” of 2009.

STUBBINGS HITS OPENER IN CORTEZ!

CORTEZ, COLORADO (May 1, 2009) Mickey Stubbings of Helper, Utah traveled across the Utah border into the state of Colorado this weekend as he went to go race at the Fairgrounds Speedway in Cortez, Colorado. Mickey’s best finish in Cortez in the IMCA Modifieds is seventh. Does Stubbings get a new best finish? Mickey had drawn a low number which lined him up second in heat race number one. Mickey would run in the third spot for the whole race while battling with former track champion, Jerry Harpole Jr. and Rick Spangler of Colorado. The top four transferred out of the heat and the top three redrew for their starting positions in the feature. Mickey drew a high number which would line him up in the eleventh starting spot in the main event out of the twelve drivers that redrew. The start of the race seen Mickey fall back to the twelfth spot and battled heavily with Race Fisher and Rick Spangler throughout the main event. Mickey fell as low as fifteenth but made his way back to the thirteenth position and battled with New Mexico’s Charlie Felker for that spot then later through the feature Stubbings was challenged by Bryan Hughes until with three laps to go in the feature, Nick Nelson lost his left rear tire on the back straightaway and that allowed Mickey Stubbings to finish in the fourteenth spot. The races for Saturday night had gotten rained ou t for the evening. Charlotte and Pete were the crew for the 96m machine this weekend. Mick might be hitting the postponed show in Vernal, Utah on Sunday May third.

STUBBINGS RUNS WELL IN AZTEC!

AZTEC, NEW MEXICO (April 24 & 25, 2009) Mickey Stubbings of Helper, Utah made the trip to the Aztec Speedway in Aztec, New Mexico for the EQ IMCA Wild West Modified Tour Northern Series opener for the 2009 race season, Mickey Stubbings was seen on the pole for the seventh heat race with teammates Jeep Berry and Chase Hansen in that heat with him. Stubbings led the heat until he was moved out of the way by the eventual winner of that heat race which Stubbings would end up in the second spot for the heat. Stubbings then had to run a B-Main by starting in the second postion Stubbings fell back to the third spot and held his line and was trying hard to make the feature, On a restart in the B-Main, Stubbings had to start on the outside which there was nothing on the outside it was just on the bottom, Stubbings then tried to go straight to the bottom of the track and was later taken out into the infield which ended his night. Saturday was a miserable day for working on the cars all day but Mickey got the car fixed up and figured out for the second night of racing, Mick did not draw very well as he had to line up in the eighth position in the fourth heat race of the night, Mickey threw himself into the fourth position which gained him four spots in the heat race. That put Mickey in the fifth starting spot in the B-Main, Mickey raced a good race as he finished in fourth and he made the feature. Stubbings then had to line up in the twentieth position in the A-Main, Mickey justed bited his time and would come out with a thirteenth place finish. Mickey's crew was Pete and Charlotte for the weekend and they did a really good job helping Mickey out. Mickey plans on heading to the Fairgrounds Speedway in Cortez, Colorado on May first and second.

STUBBINGS ROCKS CANYON!

PEORIA, ARIZONA (January 21 & 22, 2009) Stubbings went on and traveled to the Canyon Speedway Park in Peoria, Arizona for the opener of the Rotating Right IMCA Wild West Modified Tour Southern Series. This was Mickey Stubbings first show of the 2009 season. Mickey Stubbings went down with a new setup to see if it worked. Stubbings was seen starting in the third position behind Dan Fitzgerald. Mickey had a lot of tough competition in his heat. Mick ended up finishing in the sixth position. So, Mickey had to line up in the middle of the B-Main. Mickey made it up to as far as fourth and fell back to about seventh position. Mickey then slipped off the track and ended up finishing in the eleventh position. Sunday, Mickey finished in the sixth position in his heat race and ended up with a eleventh place showing in the B-Main. Mickey’s next stop will be at the Aztec Speedway in Aztec, New Mexico.
